Parallel Stars (2019) is about a romance that sparked on the cusp two people’s darkest times. For her, sunk in a bed of deep depression and apathy for the normal paths of society and not knowing when she would ever get up and at it again; for him, the passing of key people in his life, and the end of both a best-friendship and romantic relationship, all dominoing into a series of unbelievable losses that would challenge his spirit and lifeforce. They lived in the same state, traveled the same circles, and passed one another many times, without ever knowing. They found one another in the hardest time of both their lives, and realized they had been walking a parallel path for some time, only to be led to one another when they perhaps needed each other’s light most, which they had forgotten they had even contained. Recorded in the city-seaside apartment of David Spelman, back when the birds were chirping, which can be heard endearingly in the recording. David “set the table” for a comfortable, intimate and soulful experience, where I could practice being my fullest, and most simple self. The result is something I feel deeply connected to.
lyrics
There was never a lonelier time
Than that November in that room of mine
I lost my job and I lost my friends
And I lost my will to find them again
I lost my strength to climb that hill
Then I met you, a complete unknown
A perfect stranger, on the phone
All this time, parallel stars
Shooting in the sky
Tryin’ stay bright
A million miles away
Burning night and day
I had all the time in the world
But I didn’t have you
To hold my hand
And tell me that you love me
And open up the windows
To hear the birds sing
I had all the time in the world
But I didn’t have you, didn’t have you, didn’t have you
Parallel stars
Burning in the sky
Burning for each other
Day and night
Parallel stares
Burning in the sky
Burning in the sky
Burning in the sky
